Tour de France

The world's biggest cycling event!

The Tour de France is the most important professional road cycling competition in the world! Since 2013, we have been watching the greatest cycling athletes compete in the most famous mountains of Europe in a race that has over 100 years of history.

The race

It had its first edition in 1903 and has been held annually since then. It was only interrupted by the two world wars and, in 2020, it was postponed for a few months due to the pandemic.

Conceived as a complete tour around the map of France, different each year, its total route once approached 6,000 km, but currently, the UCI limits the grand tours to 3,500 km to be covered in three weeks.

As in any race, the winner is the one who completes the entire course in the shortest time. But being a stage race, times are summed daily, and whoever accumulates the shortest time at the end of each stage is the current leader in the general classification and will start the next day wearing the yellow jersey, which is one of the greatest honors in professional cycling.

With prize money exceeding millions of Euros, it is the most important professional cycling competition in the world and also the largest sporting event in the world in terms of live spectators, reaching over 1 million people on the roads on an important stage day.
