La Marmotte
The amateur competition equivalent to a queen stage in the Alps!

A competition known for its frenetic atmosphere with its heterogeneous and multilingual peloton (90% foreigners), the beauty of its course, and undoubtedly, the difficulty and sequence of its legendary mountains.
The race
La Marmotte is an amateur competition in France that traverses the most traditional and historic mountains of the Tour de France. It is on these mountains that the greatest battles of the competition have occurred, offering amateurs the chance to experience the challenge of climbing them in sequence.
The course
The competition traditionally starts in Bourg D'Oisans and climbs four major mountains: Col du Glandon (Allemond), Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier, descends via Col du Lautaret, and finishes at the top of the famous Alpe D'Huez.
It covers 177km with 5,000m of accumulated ascent, and there is also the option to compete in a time trial of the 13.8km Alpe d'Huez two days earlier, for those who want to test themselves on the most climbed ascent by cyclists in the world!
For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, the race offers the Randonneur mode, which covers the same course but divided over two days, starting one day before the Granfondo and finishing together. The first part goes up to the town of Valloire, located in the valley between the Télégraphe and the Galibier, near the 100km mark of the race.
